Spanish Themed Day
18 May 2017
We had a fantastic Spanish themed day at our Home on 18 May.
We started the day by making tissue paper flowers for decorations as well as residents' hair and wrist bands. Residents enjoyed Spanish chicken and Vegetable Paella for lunch. In the afternoon residents came together in the dinning room for a 'Pinata smash'. All residents found this fun and enjoyable. Staff as well joined in until finally the pinata was smashed with one almighty wack by resident M. Harribo sweet flew from the pinata andthe residents got to enjoy a sweet treat.
Our Spanish singer serenaded residents with smooth Spanish music and also some lively numbers, his smooth ways drew the attention of many residents but one in particular Mrs N, who was star struck getting up to join him on the dance floor, cheeky kisses on the cheeks before giving him a foam heart she had made and kept with her for weeks.
Maurice, Joyce, Jean and many other residents and staff joined us on the dace floor and danced the afternoon away. Visiting families and friends joined us also in shaking maracas and singing along. Residents enjoyed a Spanish treat of fresh sangria.
Residents also had Spanish omelettes for supper, and were still talking about the afternoon's entertainment through out dinner and into the evening.
